Some Sigma Brushes for Face

"You will never get a good make up without good brushes."

What do you think of the statement above? I totally agree.. There are so many options out there. For a non make up junkie maybe think that any brand will do. I was like that too. Why spending so much on brushes?? The money could buy another lipstick instead! I found myself so wrong.

I'm not gonna say cheap brush will always deliver bad result. Sometimes cheap brush could be so surprising. But, I found that I spent too much time and effort on reaching the desired result, not like with my more expensive brushes. The lifespan is also shorter even with the same treatment and the hair is also less softer.

After experiencing that such, I decided to limit myself on "Sigma or better" choice. Means that Sigma is now become my standard in choosing brushes, not by price but by quality. And Sigma also take the biggest part of my brush collection (I don't have too much brushes anyway).

I want to share some of my Sigma Face Brushes and how I use them. Each brush always meant for something, like for face powder, contouring, blush, etc.. It is written in the handle. I look at that designation in a glance but I often ignore and go my own way, so sometimes how I'm using my brush is different from the suggestion. It happens a lot on eyeshadow brushes. But for face brushes, my application mostly matched the description.

And here they are:

1. F80 - Flat Kabuki

This is a multifunction brush. It can be used for both powder and liquids. The result is smooth and nice blended for most of my liquid and powder base. It is perfect when you expect good coverage from your products and also good for building up. I'm currently loving to mix Burberry Fresh Glow and Vitalumiere Aqua in the back of my hand (sanitize first!), spread on my face and blend using this kabuki. 

2. F40 - Large Angled Contour 

I do contour and bronzer with other type of brush. I use this F40 for applying my blusher, especially when I need a natural result. The brush is quite soft so when you like a popping color on your cheek, just build or use a harder brush.

3. F35 - Tapered Highlighter

I don't have fan brush, so this is my only option to apply my highlighter, but I have no complaint. I'm loving it!

4-5. F30 - Large Powder and F20 - Large Powder

Both of them are large powder brush. The shape is identical, only the size is different. F20 is larger than F30. I usually use F20 for loose powder and it delivers fast application but maybe do not reach some area easily. For F30, I like using it with my compacts since F20 is too big for them. I often bring F30 inside my pouch too (I don't like sponge, therefore I need to bring brush to touch up).

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

People love Anastasia. From the infamous brow product to the liquid lipsticks.. Who don't.. One of the bomb is this Contour Kit. Last year Contouring Game is a hot topic everywhere and now been upgraded to the cream contouring style which is even more intense. While I love sitting here watching MUA and bloggers' videos showing their high contouring skill and completely amazed, I don't find that a strong contouring is my style. I never want to apply that much layer on my face. 

The simplest way to say it is I never succeed to contour my chubby face, so please bear with me if my swatch does not satisfy you. Another thing, this post won't show a brand new product. It is my old collection and I want to make myself fall in love again with this stuff. 

There are 6 shades in this palette which consists of 3 highlighting and 3 contouring powder. It supposed to sculpt, define and enhance our natural feature. There are 3 choices of palette, mine is a light/medium palette for light to medium skin.

There is no fall out when applied. The color payoff is more intense than Nars Paloma (reviewed here) and create more gradient on my face. It is quite blendable and easy to use but don't forget to slowly build it up than to go for a bold at once.

I love using the Middle Highligher for my undereye and the Left or Right for Highlighting. Go for the Right if you want a stronger one. 

I'm using the Left and Middle Contour for sculpting and the Right one for bronzing. This is quite long lasting, with primer and setting spray it last for 8 hours.

If you notice in these pictures, my eye make up is different between left and right eyes. I usually do review of some products altogether. The eyeshadows are Gucci Eye Shadow Mono (reviewed here). You don't think I'm going out with that crazy looks on my face, do you?

NARS Contour Kit Paloma

Who loves contouring here? Make up technique that helps up to get a better face shape instantly? Honestly I don't really into contouring. I only use them when there is party or something special. Until I met NARS Paloma. Here I'm explaining why..

There are three shades of NARS Contouring Kit. I take the one in Paloma, the middle one. The case is the signature black rubber case with white letters which is sleek and simple. And as always this packaging is easily get dirty.. 

The duo are pink beige and deep rose color. Pink beige (lighter shade) is only half the deep rose in size. The lighter shade is supposed to illuminate the high points of the face while the deeper one is to give definition to our face.

The texture of the lighter shade is much better from the deeper one. Pink beige is quite soft and easy to pick while deep rose's texture is harder and dryer.

But since they are not so pigmented or buttery, the finishing is super natural. It is so easy to apply unlike some other brands that I've tried. This piece is even recommended for newbie. This is the third contouring kit (of four) that I bought and so far this is the easiest if we talk about application. I will never be like a clown no matter how much I apply the powder. (It is buildable to a certain level). It is even suitable for morning/afternoon.

I use pink beige for my triangle area under my eyes and also for the bridge of my nose, bit in my forehead and my chin. Deep rose is used under cheekbone, jawline and outer face.

Personally I now prefer duo contouring kit than contouring palette which consist of 6 or more shades since I'm not a MUA and also I live in country with only two seasons so my skin color would not change that much. But wait a minute! I still need to find the better contouring kit right? So I will bring you another kit soon.. Lol
